Welcome to Tom and Olive Plant’s mountaintop estate, Lucknow, built in 1913-1914 high in the Ossipee Mountain Range. Known as Castle in the Clouds since its opening to the public in 1959, the house is an unusual example of Arts and Crafts architecture in New England, expressing that aesthetic movement’s philosophy of living in harmony with nature.

Castle in the Clouds is a fun place to spend the day with your entire family. Much of the property is open for our guests to discover at their leisure so feel free to take as much or as little time as you’d like exploring. If you’re visiting with small children, please keep in mind that car seats, strollers and metal framed baby carriers will not be permitted inside the mansion.

At the mansion, children can learn about life in the 1920s while enjoying some interactive play areas. They can also complete the Castle scavenger hunt and pick a prize!

When visiting, children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult 21 years or older.
